The next generation flagship from Xiaomi looks to be sleeker, faster, packed with more features, boast upgraded security, and be much more efficient. The many rumors already surrounding the 2017 launch of what looks to be the Xiaomi Mi7 is looking to bear down on consumers globally which has been set up since becoming a home-grown icon in China some time ago. Looking to become an international icon, the many rumors surrounding what’s next are disclosed below.
In the following preview, we detail the latest and greatest rumors on the upcoming Xiaomi Mi7 specs, features, concept, price, preorder, and release date info leading up to the official announcement, and inevitable launch.
Xiaomi Mi7 Specs – Screen, Processor, Camera, Battery, and Design
Some of the biggest enhancements packed into the specifications of the Mi7 will prove to give consumers better visuals, more power, an amazing camera, longer battery life, and an even sexier design. While consumers look forward to getting much more packed into a sleeker, sexier smartphone while improving productivity for those on the go is what Mi7’s new concept is all about.
All there is to know on the Xiaomi Mi7 specs are disclosed below.
Some of the biggest rumors surrounding the new specs of the Mi7 suggest we’ll be seeing a 5.3” screen. There’s still uncertainty if we’ll see a UHD or full 4K resolution although the difference will be minimal to the naked eye. A UHD resolution would mean 3840 x 2160 while true 4K would mean a resolution of 4096 x 2160. Either way, we can expect one of the best visual displays seen in any 2017 smartphone, and by far, the best Xiaomi display yet.
Expect to see a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC found powering the Mi7, but we’re unsure if we’ll see the 820 or 830 processor. Rumors suggest the Xiaomi Mi7 processor will come standard with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, but were still hoping we’ll see the next generation processor.
Leaks suggesting the 830 SoC will be ready for mass production by smartphone manufacturers by early summer of 2017 which gives us hope we’ll see it in the Mi7. Each year we’ve seen an upgrade in speed as we’re likely to speeds in the range of 2.8 – 3.0GHz.
The camera quality of the Mi7 will rival that of anything that Apple or Samsung launches the same year. The Mi7 will definitely be outfitted with both front and rear cameras with rumors in on a 25MP rear and 8MP front camera.
We’re also hearing we’ll see all of the top camera features including optical image stabilization plus, auto laser focus, and even 3D features packed in. The shift from 2D to 3D recording, viewing, and even picture taking is fueling the latest rumor as we fully expect Xiaomi’s push into 3D technology.
Improved Uni-Body Design with a Near Bezeless, Glass Display
Xiaomi has significantly improved the look and feel of their flagship over the years, and we’re expecting the Xiaomi Mi7 design to be more of the same. With a uni-body design, glass front and back, and a near bezeless display, we should be seeing the sexiest Xiaomi smartphone yet.
Below, we have all the details on the new Xiaomi Mi7 specifications:
- 5.3” 4K display with a resolution of 4096 x 2160
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or 830 SoC at 2.8 – 3.0 GHz
- 4GB RAM
- 25 MP rear camera
- 8MP front camera
- 2900 mAh battery
Xiaomi Mi7 Features – Wireless Charging, Retina Eye Scanner, and Expandable Memory
Early rumors on the new features packed into the Mi7 looks to significantly improve the charging capabilities, security, and amount of memory. We’re hearing we’ll see the next generation technology of packed into Xiaomi’s newest flagship that will reduce the amount of time between charges for those who are always on the go, improve secure locking and unlocking the handset, and amount of pictures, songs, and other types of native data stored.
Wireless Charging in 50% Less Time
Wireless charging is starting to become a standard feature, but a much faster charging capability is sure to impress. With many of the newer automobiles coming standard now with wireless charging capabilities, the Mi7 is expected to do so in rapid fashion. Standard wireless charging is much slower than conventional charging, and we’re hearing the Mi7 will be able to charge wirelessly in about 50% less the time of today’s wireless technology.
Hopefully this rumor holds true as it’s expected this technology will make its way to most flagship smartphones debuting in 2017.
Retina Eye Scanner for Improved Security
For some, this may seem far-fetched, but for others it’ll be about time. Eye sensing technology isn’t exactly a new trend for mobile technology, but for some reason we’ve yet to see it widespread. This could all change when the Mi7 debuts in the summer of 2017 as it’s expected to significantly improve security while replacing the fingerprint scanner.
An eye scanner will work seamlessly with mobile payment options such as Samsung and Google Pay as well as making the phone itself much more secure from would-be thieves. Locking and unlocking the phone could be as simple as looking at the screen which would be much more responsive than any fingerprint scanner.
Plenty of Onboard Memory Including Micro SD Support
We all need it, and it’s expected the Xiaomi Mi7 will boast plenty of memory options to choose from including a 32, 64, and 128GB variant as well as expandable memory. We’re hearing with an optional Micro SD card you can get an extra 128GB, and we’re holding out for the possibility of dual Micro SD card slots which would mean an extra 256GB.
More New Features Packed In
The latest version of Gorilla Glass protection will be providing the face of the screen which is expected to make the display nearly indestructible. Gorilla Glass 5 will be the latest version, and it sounds as though it will be unbreakable with drops and the normal wear and tear that we all deal with on a daily basis. Other features include Google’s latest operating system which will be Android 7.0 along with waterproof, shockproof, and all the related health related sensors that we’ve come to expect.
Xiaomi Mi7 Price – China, Korea, India, UK, US, Canada, Germany, and More
We’ve been asked by many on the launch price of the Mi7, and it seems like Xiaomi will be sticking to the lower price than competitors smartphones. This once again will help the Xiaomi Mi7 outsell much of the competition, but it’ll be interesting to see how it fares in some newer markets such as the US, UK, and throughout Europe.
We’ve been hearing the launch price will start around $450 US which comes in around 2000 CNY for those in China and under 31,000 Rs for those in India. Expect the price to go up from there for those looking for the larger memory variants such as the 64 and 128GB variant.
Xiaomi Mi7 Release Date – China, Korea, India, UK, US, Germany, Canada, and More
The Xiaomi Mi7 release date is something that is a little less clear. Everyone’s guess suggest we’ll see the 7th installment during Q3 of 2017, and if the competition heats up with Apple and Samsung we fully expect it by September or October at the very latest.
This is because both Apple’s iPhone 7s and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 will launching around the same time and both are expected to compete with consumers looking for the Xiaomi’s Mi7. All will share similar specs, but the Mi7’s price tag coming in almost 50% less it’ll be hard for Apple and Samsung enthusiasts to not take notice. With any luck, we’ll see the next installment from the Chinese start-up slightly before the 7s and Note7, but this is highly unlikely at this time.

Whether you’re one of the millions out there loyal to the Xiaomi franchise or whether you’re looking for something entirely new, the Mi7 will prove to be a formidable option.
